  • I got very good news yesterday. The Polyps removed during my Colonoscopy were all BENIGN! There is one that the Gastro DR could only get partially out during the scope and he may recommend surgery to get the rest of it out. I will cross that bridge when I get to it. I am thrilled at the BENIGN word since so many of my tests in other parts of my body have said Malignent. Next up to bat is the DR who is looking at my Thyroid. He wants to do a needle biopsy but I would have to go off the Warfarin for awhile and he will have to get the okay from my Cardiologists. I just got back on the Warfarin from the Colonoscopy break.

People still looking at the house. Have not had an offer yet but they all rave about what we have accomplished with our upgrades. 8-[

  • Hi all.....

Anna glad all went well for you.

Patsy Happy 18th Birthday to Toniann!!

Hope everyone's enjoying this beautiful weather.

  • Good morning all!

Can you believe Old Man Winter has decided to stick around here in Minnesota? The temperatures are in the low 30s, with strong winds, and snow on the ground (with thunder & lightning in the sky). Mountains of snow everywhere and I cannot go out to watch softball & baseball at the nearby highs schools & college like I usually do at this time of year.

    Argh!!!

Well, like every true Brooklynite, I shall have to be satisfied with staying home & reading a good book. Today, I'm reading Louisa May Alcott's Hospital Sketches. Over the years I have read many books by or about the New England Transcendentalists - this is my latest one with many more to come.

By the way, next week is National Library Week. Please send a thank you note via email to your local librarian and encourage your kids/friends/neighbors to do the same.

    Have a wonderful day! :)

  • Good morning all. Anna, ifyour Cataract surgery is as successful as mine you will be thrilled. It sounds like you are amazed with the first eye done. After the second eye you will be wondering why everone does not have it done. My eyeglasses used to look like the bottom of seven up bottles the lenses were so thick. Since the surgery I am wearing wafer thin lenses and at my latest checkup I was 20-20 with the glasses and not to shabby without them.

Prodigal son. In some dictionaries Minnesota=Cold & SNOW. Too cold up there for me. I do not even like the cold spells we get down here in the winter. Speaking of weather, I do not know where Terry went in Florida this time but Rain is predicted from today through Monday. Not rain all day but showers.

Have not sold the house yet but it has only been on sale for a month. We are not allowed to put up for sale signs in our gated community so you have to depend on your Agent and the Internet (MLS) 8-[

  • Hello All,

Hope you all had a good weekend. Except for Church, when you are retired the weekend is not much different then the rest of the week. Down here is the reverse of up North. On Saturdays most hairdressers/Beauty parlors, Barber Shops, Travel Agencies etc: are closed Saturday and Sunday. We were amazed at that when we first got down here. They figure, I guess, that retired people have all week to do those things so why tie up their weekends. Even real Estate is slow on the weekends. We had one looker on Friday but none Saturday or Sunday.

Today I have an appointment with my Radiation/Oncologist. Just a check on my progress. Tomorrow the Cardiology Office for my PT/INR test. And the beat goes on!!! ](*,)

  • GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS :)

    HI TO ALL!!!

    ANNA.. SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!

WARREN, IT'S GOOD WHEN THE BEAT GOES ON!!!

    STAY WELL..

HI JUDY, KISS THE BABY FOR ME.

HI BOBBY C.. HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOU & YOUR FAMILY.

EVERYONE, HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! :flower:

  • Hi everyone!

Can you believe it snowed yet again!!!

High school & college baseball/softball games have been postponed and I've had to stay home because there is no place for me to go (sports are my only source of entertainment nowadays). Argh!

Hopefully (and I have my fingers crossed) I will finally to get to some games this week and beyond ...

BTW, I did wish my two bookmobile librarians about National Library Week - and neither one knew it was on! Anyway, they appreciated the good news.

Everyone take good care ... :)

  • Hi all.....

    Happy Birthday Terry xoxoxo

  • GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS :)

HI DEB!!! YES. I SPOKE TO MY CUZ ON HER B/DAY. SHE IS BACK

FROM FLA. & SHE WAS WITH HER GRANDDAUGHTER ARIA.

I WILL SEE YOU ON SATURDAY, BUT I WILL SPEAK TO YOU BEFORE THEN.

WATCHING LAST NIGHT, WAS DELAYED,DUE TO SNOW IN COLORADO.

DOUBLEHEADER, NO LESS!!! THEY WON 1 GAME & LOST 1 GAME.

HOPE YOU CAN GET OUT TODAY!! & SEE SOME SPORTS..

EVERYONE.. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! :flower:

  • See if you can answer any of these Brooklyn Questions? I know the answers to some of them but not all of them.

    1. Why is it called Bartel-Pritchard Square when it is a circle?

    2. When did they dismantle the 5th Avenue EL?

    3. What Bodies of Water make Coney Island an Island?

    4. How did the Brooklyn Dodgers get the name "Dodgers"? It was not their original name.

    5. We know that Jackie Robinson was number 42. What was Roy Campenella's uniform number?

    6. What beloved Dodger Radio/TV announcer left the Dodgers and went to the Yankees to announce with Mel Allen?

    7. What was Mayor LaGuardia's most popular action?

    8. Fill in the blank. A sign below the scoreboard in Ebbetts Field stated "Hit Sign Win _____"

    9. What two Brooklyn H.S. teams played an annual Football game in Ebbets Field on Election day?

    10. What Brooklyn H.S. Did Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond and Barry Manilow attend? :?:

  • GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS :)

    HI WARREN..

I THINK WE DID SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THIS A YEAR OR SO AGO, & I HAD 3 RIGHT, BUT I HAD HELP WITH THE ANSWERS.

LOL. HOPEFULLY, YOU WILL FILL IN THE BLANKS FOR US.

    HOPE ALL IS WELL!!! :)

I AM GETTTING TOGETHER TOMORROW WITH DEBBIE, MILDRED & CAROL DIAZ. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING THIS CREW..

WE ARE GOING TO NATHAN'S IN BROOKLYN FOR LUNCH (B/C THE REAL NATHANS IN CONEY IS STILL CLOSED). THAN WE MAY TAKE A RIDE TO CONEY TO HANG OUT & RIDES SOME RIDES IN LUNA PARK,WHICH OPENED A FEW WEEKS AGO. & THAN MAYBE SOME SHOPPING.

    WHO KNOWS??

EVERYONE.. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.. :flower:

  • OH NOOOOO!!!!!

It snowed again - worse than in winter! It looks like the Arctic Circle here in the Twin Cities. No softball/baseball for me at least until the end of the month.

I hope the weather is a lot better where you are. :)

Here's a bit of trivial news: on this day in 1927 our Goddess from God's Country, Mae West, was convicted of obscenity and spent a few days in prison. What has been forgotten all these years later is that she spent her lifetime fighting against racism and homophobia.

  • Happy Friday to all.

I'm going to try to answer Warren's questions without cheating:

    3) Coney Island was just that - an island. Therefore, I would say Sheepshead Bay & the Atlantic made it into an island.

    4) The Wonders and Bridegrooms played in East New York way back when. The Tip Tops and Trolley Dodgers evolved into the Dodgers around 1920. It was the pedestrian hazards that gave them the name.

    5) Won't answer this one cause I'd be cheating ~ his best friend was Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe and I have his autograph. The photo shows Campy as well.

    6) Red Barber

    7) LaGuardia announced the comics during a newspaper strike.

    8) Win clothes at Abe Stark's.

    9) Taking a wild guess: Jefferson & Tilden(?)

Great to have Brooklyn trivia on the forum!
