Hello All,
I think we are at the bottom of the page so who knows when this will show up! Hope you up North are all finished shoveling. I am being very careful with the sunshine on my delicate skin. No shoveling here except for some of the
bull s--t the poloticians are throwing around. Very pleasant weather here right now. Do not know how long it will last. Hit 80 degrees yesterday. Very unusual for February here.Had a respite from Doctors visits for a couple of days but on Thursday Carol has one and I have two. Then on Friday another for me. I have a waiting list for two of the Doctors. The Gastro guy wants to do a Colonoscopy and the Endocrinologist wants to do a Biopsy of my thyroid. My Cardiologist says they will have to wait until he feels it is safe. I am in no rush for either of those tests!
All our children and grandchildren in NJ came through the storm okay. Even Carol's sister in L.I. and her brother in Brooklyn got through the storm with little impact. Looks like the Boston area really got the worst of it. 8-[

Hello All, Finished with Doctors until next Thursday. That will be my Cystoscope. Not a pleasant test but very necessary.
Patsy, wait until your GEANDCHILDREN start driving! When I got my license in Brooklyn many, many years ago, the saying was "If you can drive in Brooklyn, you can drive anywhere. Furthermore, if you can drive around Grand Army Plaza and get off on the street you wanted, you are a professional driver!" I took my test at Fletcher & Creamer streets in Red Hook. It was a very heavy industrial area. I came to an intersection where two large trucks were blocking the intersection while the drivers were BSing. I sat there and finally the inspector said "aren't you going to blow your horn? I said no sir. The horn is only for emergency warnings." He said if I would have blown the horn he would have failed me. He got out of the car and went over to the trucks, flashed his badge and told the drivers that if they were not out of the intersection by the time he got back to the car, he was giving both of them tickets. They moved in a hurry. I was glad I studied the drivers manual. I did some of my drivers learning on 2nd ave near Bush Terminal. It was bumpy (Belgian Cobble Stones) and there were R.R. tracks all over the place. It prepared me for the worst. 8-[

Okay you folks who run this blog. There are at least two messages on page 17 since yesterday. Why is a page delayed when the old page is completed? We are losing people from this blog like crazy and one of the reasons is problems with getting on and having their input showed timely. Administrators, if you want this blog to die you are doing an excellent job in killing it!!!! [-X

hello again everyone, hey oldgoat i took my road test in red hook to,same place fletcher and creamer streets, yes it was a heavy industrial area,i took it in the summer,on a monday morning,my older brother john took me down to the road test area on sunday afternoon, the day before the road test, and he knew exactly were the road test begin and were it ended,he took me true the whole road test, and between my dad and my older brother, they would take me down to the old bull lines, big open area, around 20st and 2nd ave,and pratice down there,i was going to grady hs at the time,so i had a junior license at 16,and when i turned 17,it became a regular license, and my brother told me,ck the mail in about 2 weeks, you will hear from the motor vehicle,he said if the envelope is thin you passed the road test, and he said if its thick, you failed the road test,i passed the 1st time, theres some brklyn trivia for you.ok everyone take care.take one day at a time, and do the best you can bobby c

Hey Bobby C,
Just to add a little to the Drivers test story, I took the test in a friends car. Luckily I had practiced some in it. It was a dodge and you could drive it as an automatic or stick shift. I drove it stick shift on the test for two reasons. 1. In those days if you took your test with an automatic transmission they stamped it right on your License-"Automatic Only". 2, My Fathers car (a 48 buick Special) was stick and that was the only car I was going to be driving. It was the one I did most of my practising in.One day down on 2nd ave I was practising with my Father riding shotgun. My Mother was in the back seat. My Father said "Make a U turn here". Not knowing any better, I made a U with out slowing down and threw my Mother across the back seat. As you can imagine I heard a little about that for years.. [-X

Knock, Knock Is Anyone there????
Tomorrow is a big day for me. I get the results of my P.S.A. test. If it is any higher then 0.1 I could have very deep problems. I also will have a Cystoscopy. I really can not describe on here how it is exactly done without having censorship. It is not a pleasant test. They use a certain part of your body to insert a rubber tube with a light and camera on the tip. They go into the bladder and have to check for tiny (or God forbid) big Tumors any where on the way or in the bladder itself. I will get those results immediately. The liquid they put into the baldder so it is not collapsed, will be drawn off in part and send to the lab for checking for cancer cells. Problems on any of these tests could put me in big trouble. So far the Pacemaker is working fine. The Cardiologist said no to the Gastro guy regarding a Colonoscopy. They want that put off for at least 3 months from the Pacemaker implant. So the biopsy of the Thyroid will have to wait also. I guess I could be described as a Physical wreck but I will keep hanging in there!!!
Talking about driving in Brooklyn the other day reminded me of one snowy winter night when I had my Brother & his wife and my Aunt & Uncle in the car and we came home from a service in Long Island. I forget whether it was a confirmation or what. I dropped my Aunt & Uncle off at 90th street & Ft Hamilton Pkway where they lived and drove home to 12th Street. When we got to the house there was one spot left near the house. The snow had piled up quite a bit. I had one chance of backing the car into the spot and I made it! I am still proud of that parking job about 60 years later!!! If my Father was still alive he would say" Warren, stop patting yourself on the back or you may dislocate your arm!!!" :bounce:
-
Hi Warren...hang in there...hope all your tests come back ok.

Kindest greetings to all!
When I was growing up in East New York we had malt shops on numerous street corners, especially on Livonia & Pennsylvania Avenues. For years, it was the most wholesome place to hang out as you could get a nice malt, sing with or dance to the latest Rock & Roll songs, and you could get a comic book or the newspapers. Sadly, the old malt shops went the way of the Romans. Kids started to hang out with less than wholesome characters and life sorta went downhill.
Folks tell me the same thing happened here in the Twin Cities. But, at long last, some good news has emerged: the soda fountain and the soda "jerk" have made a big comeback here:
http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/taste/190081121.html
"The reception among the soda-sipping public has been enthusiastic."
My hope is that the good folks of Brooklyn will have the same experience.

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS

Hi Patsy!
Thanx for your reply - it is so good to know that folks in God's Country are enjoying the wholesomeness of hanging out with friends and drinking delicious malts.

1. The results of my Urological tests on Thursday were pretty good but not perfect. The Cystoscopy did not indicate any Cancer present in my Bladder. The lab test results will tell us for sure. The P.S.A., not bad but not good. I have been at <0.1 for a couple of years. This test came back as 0.1. My Urologist will wait for the next P.S.A. in 6 months. If it jumps to 0.2 I will have to go back on Hormone shots in the butt or belly.
2. many years ago there was an Ice Cream parlor that served Malts, Sundaes, Floats etc:. It was on 5th avenue between 9th & 10th Streets (closer to 9th street down a couple of doors from the newstand.)We used to go there after Basketball games, Youth group meetings at our Church on 12th Street etc:. One of my favorites was a slice of pound or marble cake toasted with a scoop of their home made Ice Cream on top!
3. Pacemaker seems to be working pretty good. Have had no real light headed attacks since it was implanted. :-00
